Merging Metals with Luxurious Fibers

ERDEN’s philosophy is informed by a comprehensive knowledge of fiber characteristics and the production process. Ingenuity has been a cornerstone of ERDEN since its inception, starting with the experimentation of inlaying metal into rugs. ERDEN continues to expand through craft and design including proprietary fiber blends, embedding alternate materials including pyrites and meteorites, and emphasizing innovative usage in all aspects of process.
Terra Collection

In 2021, ERDEN acquired twenty-two rolling acres of pasture, woodland, and a growing herd of alpaca. Inspired by the patterns and themes found there, TERRA, ERDEN’s fourth collection, explores the communion between man and earth. Raised textures, linear structures, and patterned forms are cultivated in a careful balance of the organic and the orchestrated.

First Edition

Inspired by artworks found within international museums to the utilitarian design of urban walkways, ERDEN’s first collection concerns contrast: eschewing the traditional grid of knots, several works in the collection insert analog elements of bronze and brass, their strength standing in stark contrast to the surrounding fibers. United by a deep examination, FIRST EDITION’s pieces explore the aesthetics seen at the intersection of the contemporary and the ancient. ERDEN’s first flat weave collection concerns itself primarily with materiality and contrast: very fine Peruvian alpaca standing in opposition to casual linen, or the exuberant thickness of 196-ply Huacaya alpaca weft constrained by a single ply cotton warp. All superfluous graphic patterns have been pared away, leaving behind only honesty of the material and simplicity of weave.

String Theory

ERDEN embarks on a multidimensional exploration into the fundamental nature of a woven structure. A continued focus on materials, organized and deployed in thoughtful yarn constructions, result in a new level of craftsmanship and evermore restrained aesthetics. STRING THEORY is both an ode to great thinkers of humanity’s past, and an experimental salvo fired into the future.

The Archives

The Archives offers a glimpse into some of ERDEN’s most thoughtful private collaborations. Ranging from highly textural, culture-crossing weave structures to graphic explosions in bronze, steel, and alpaca, ERDEN’s third collection spotlights aspects of its work heretofore unseen.
